Changing Seasons

"Of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, 200 chiefs, and all their kinsmen under their command." 1 Chronicles 12 vs 32 (ESV)

This was a time when men joined David in the cave at Adullam. These men were gifted in strategic military service. They were almost invincible.

But my focus here are the descendents of Issachar. They were gifted with wisdom of understanding the times and knew what must be done.

The entire world is experiencing a time of Changing Seasons. It's been one of the toughest years, but for those of us still alive, we have much to be grateful for and still much more work needs to be done. As the new year looms in the not so distant future. In fact it's just a mere 12 hours away(South African time). This is a time that most people will be preparing for celebrations of the coming new year. Others won't be celebrating due to the many difficult circumstances this past year has brought with it.

As we look to the next twelve months ahead, instead of concerntrating on self and 'blessings', how about considering the Will of God.

God will surely provide for our every need but our focus needs to change. We need to become Intentional. That's a lesson I've learnt from one of my mentors. 'Intentional' is my new word for the next twelve months ahead.

"But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matt 6 vs 33 (ESV)

The above mentioned verse is familiar with most of us. Let's consider what Psalms 37 vs 4 says,

"Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." (ESV)

Delighting in God means we fullfill His will and His Desires. When that happens, He blesses and meets our needs simply because we're completely focused on what He wants and not us focusing on what we want and asking His blessings for our desires.  Not that we're not important to him, we truly are more than we can ever imagine. But God will always surely do what He wants first. It's simply because He is completely sovereign. When we fulfill God's will, He meets with us. Our will must be locked up within His.

Like the sons of Issachar, we must understand the times. And in order for that to happen, we should be willing to fulfill God's will, not only in our lives, but through our lives. Become a living testimony. They understood the times and what should be done. Do you understand the times? Do you know what needs to be done?

God is calling us, every Christian who confesses that Jesus Christ is their Saviour and Lord. He's calling us to understand the times and do something about it.

Do you know what God has called you too? If not, then the only way to find out is simply to ask Him and He will reveal it to you.

Fullfill the call of God in your lives. In this season waiting upon God doesn't mean we become inactive. It only means that we continue to move on ahead with that which He has asked of previously.

Understand that in this season there is a desperate need to shift our focus. Becoming more intentional with what God has destined for your lives that through it, He will be glorified.

Glorify God through your intentions in the year that lies ahead.

Much Blessings,

Shane
