Book Review: God Where Are You?! - Courtesy Of Struik Christian Media
John Bevere strikes at the heart with this book. At the outset I must add that this book is a must for every Christian. It has certainly resonated with me.
Relating through personal experiences, He explains the processes of being in the wilderness using scripture in its rightful context. Whatever the circumstances many Christians find themselves in the wilderness. For some, it may be a season of much difficulty in finding the purpose of life. For others, it can be a time when life becomes too much to handle. But ultimately the wilderness experiences has one particular goal and that is to be drawn closer to God.
He explains that no matter how hard it may seem, one should never quit because in those very moments God is building us to become stronger through being equipped to do his will.
The author teaches that the wilderness may be a dry place but if we pursue God and never give up, He will reveal His will to us. It is a place where our hidden faults(sins) are revealed to us. It is the place where we learn that God is most important than anything or anyone else around us. The book teaches us to be fully dependable upon God for everything unlike the culture of our day that teaches self-sufficiency is enough. We learn who God truly is, in those dry seasons of life.
It is a beautifully crafted book. The best part is that it makes so much sense simply because the author himself has grown in those very moments of his wilderness seasons.
This book is on my list of top ten books of all time. Personally, this book has taught me some good lessons aswell. This book will surely teach the reader how God operates at certain points in our lives and of how He disciplines us as His children, instead of blaming people and the devil all the time.
I've shared some quotes from this book with others and it has certainly been a tremendous encouragement.
"Everything that God has done in the past, is doing now, and will do in the future will be for that reason. So, the purpose of the wilderness is to point us in the direction of being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ." (Page 178)
Please do get a copy and happy reading!
Much Blessings,
Shane
