Book Review: Born For Significance - Courtesy Of Struik Christian Media

Bill Johnson's book has a very significant title because everyone on planet earth is looking for some kind of purpose in their lives. At the very beginning he makes the statement in his introduction that this book isn't about wealth and fame but learning to walk in humility. But throughout the book one would see the charismatic side of Johnson as he writes.


Throughout the book he touches on various aspects including one's emotional status and spirituality and how that affects our thinking. The book has inspiring little saying splattered throughout and that's quite helpful for the reader to remember what the author is saying. He uses scripture in an encouraging way to help the reader endure through difficult times. One of my favourite quotes that I must make mention from the book that's quite inspiring about David in the scriptures,


" As a young man, David had killed a lion and a bear to protect the sheep. No wonder God wanted him to lead the people He loved. David willingly put himself in danger to protect his assignment, which perfectly qualified him for promotion. What he did when no one was watching qualified him to beat Goliath when two nations were watching. It's not that we seek to be noticed; it's that God would find us trustworthy to be noticed. Recognition adds pressure that not everyone can handle well. David passed with flying colors." (Page 143)

The book makes for an interesting read if you're looking for good inspiration and also I would suggest that this book would be great for someone going through a difficult time and need that particular nudge to bring in a glimmer of hope.

Book Review: Beyond Blessed - Courtesy Of Struik Christian Media

A brave book indeed! My initial thought when I picked this book up was that it was going to be just like every other 'Christian' book out there on finances.  But to my surprise, that whilst the central theme is finance, the author talks more about other aspects surrounding finance which leads up to good financial habits. He addresses the issues on carrying too much debt and even budgeting.  It's a great all rounder, that covers all basic necessities of the financial arena from a thorough Biblical perspective. There is a companion book that was written before this one called ' The Blessed Life.' I managed to get a copy of it at a book sale, but haven't had the opportunity of reading it yet. But will get around to it soon, hopefully.  I would suggest getting a copy of this book. In fact every family should have a copy of it.
