Are You Really Enjoy God That Much ?

Psalm 103 vs 1 -5
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." (ESV)

This Psalm is one my most favourite portions of scripture. It's very dear to my heart and speaks volumes. And I want to share that special reason with you!

In the world we live in today, everyone's focused on God blessing them. And what God is doing in and through their lives for them. (I'm not against the reality of God blessing us, in fact it's very much Biblical that God loves His creation and there's nothing that the eternal creator won't do for his creation). But when the focus becomes us, that's where the danger lies and the gospel of prosperity leads us down paths darkened with greed and selfishness.

Psalm 103 takes us through a very different turn. The focus is God Himself! And as much as He blesses us all, this Psalm shows us a  reality that isn't warped through sin. It reveals to us on how we as God's children should be Blessing Him!

But how do we Bless Him you may ask ? The answer is quite simple really. The way we honour Him through our obedience speaks volumes on Blessing the heart of God the Father.

We Bless Him by not forgetting what he has done for us as the Psalm suggests. He has 'Forgiven' all our sin, Heals our diseases and redeems our lives from destruction. His Steadfast Love and Mercy is bestowed upon us as crowns. How magnificent is that ? And wait it doesn't end there!  The Psalm continues to go on in saying that God satisfies us with His goodness and that our youth(Strength) is renewed like the eagle's. (I paraphrased the verses) And if you continue right down to the very end, it reveals something so very amazing.

The way the Psalm was introduced with 'Bless the Lord O' my soul' is the same way it ends in verse 22 with 'Bless the Lord O' my soul'.

"Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, obeying the voice of his word! Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers, who do his will! Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!" Psalms 103 vs 20 -22, (ESV)

It begins and ends with the very same words, that teaches us that when we receive of His goodness that's great and beautiful, but it's even better when we Bless Him. How proud of a Father would God be when His own blesses Him, as any mortal father would feel the same way too.

Those last three verses speaks volumes. The ones who Bless Him are the one who are not only mighty because of Him in their lives but also because they do His Word. Now isn't that powerful enough in telling us how much we Bless Him is because we understand obedience ?

Bless Him everyday in every circumstance not because you expect something in return but that you would understand Nehemiah 8 verse 10b more accurately: "for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

His joy becomes our strength, how is that exactly ? When we Bless Him, He receives joy and that same joy returns to us as strength, now isn't that amazing ?

During this festive season with all its hustles and bustles, take time out to enjoy God the Father for the greatest gift He has ever given to you - our Lord Jesus Christ.

It certainly has been awhile, but The Passionate Believer is still around, and we look forward to the new year with greater anticipation of that which the Lord will accomplish through us all in fulfilling His will.

Stay Blessed and Stay Safe.

Much Blessings,

Shane
