Unshakable Hope - Book Review: Courtesy Of Struik Christian Media

I have heard once some years ago of the saying that goes like this,

"You can live for seven days without food, you can live three days without water but you can't go on for a single day without hope."

The author brings to this book what everyone searches for but is so often neglected - Hope.

The book is easily divided into twelve chapters which makes it easy to read and its compact size means you can carry it wherever you go.

This book needs to be in the hands of every believer, in fact it needs to be in the hands of every Pastor and christian leader out there. This book is no substitute to the Bible but needs to be next to it.

We focus so much on faith that we forget that hope builds on the foundation of our faith. I love the way he explains how faith is here for the 'now moments' of life and hope is a future expectation of the workings of God.

The book brings out a few vital aspects which is important for everyone who calls themselves christian. Let me explain. The book is theological in many ways as the author interwoves scripture into what he says about hope and how he reconciles faith and love alongside it and how it all works together, he is brilliant in teaching doctrine as if it were. This book is necessary for every Christian leader out there. I've heard quite a few ministers lament 'that it's lonely being at the top.' This book encourages all believers and leaders alike that they really don't have to be alone.

The book is very personal too. The author mentions his own personal experiences and the way out for him through personal depression even at the height of his ministry was finding hope in the darkest moments when everything else was hopeless. His personal experiences would be a great encouragement to many that they too can win a fight against everything that seems hopeless.

The book is very much practical as well. I've heard a few sermons on hope but none are as practical as this book is concerning the matter at hand. Chapter three in my opinion is very pragmatic in nature. And we all could learn some valuable lessons. Hope isnt just a passive emotion or mindset somewhere out there. According to the author hope is what brings life and moves people to a better understanding of their belief in God. Hope is an anchor that holds the mind together in one place - God.

As I've said earlier and will do so again. This book needs to be in the hand of every believer and christian leader. It is impactful for personal growth and spiritual leadership. It comes from a man who has spent decades in ministry and knew exactly what he was talking about.

Please obtain a copy if you haven't yet had the opportunity to read this book.

I personally would rate this book five stars.

"Let's be honest: hopeless people don't have any real motivation. When the going gets tough, they have nothing to make them hang in there. Their hands fall slack, they shrug their shoulders, and say, "Well, I suppose it's no use." But people who have this kind of eternal hope we are talking about have strength and resolve. In times of hardship and trouble, those people endure. They hold fast. God strengthens their hearts through eternal hope." - Derek Prince (page 33)

God Bless,

Shane.
