Around The World On 50 Bucks - Book Review: Courtesy Of Struik Christian Media

The book was amazing. It was a page turner for me.

The book is divided into 16 chapters and makes for a brilliant read. A young man travels the world with only 50 bucks in his back pocket without a plan as to where he's heading except for wherever the wind takes him.

Travelling across 45 countries within a 4 year period, full of adventure with lots of fun in the sun and a few laughs along the way (frowns included).

Christopher Schacht gives a beautiful description of his travels and the experiences he's had that have shaped him.

This book will be the perfect gift for a young person, from a teenager through to a young adult.

The book is quite full of adventure and with all the dangers that come along for the ride as well. It seems almost surreal, as if reading from a fictional novel. The different kinds of people he's met and the diversity of cultures experienced has changed and shaped his character.

The new relationships he has developed through his travels and the people that took him in has proven that there are still people with good hearts out there. It has shaped his understanding of people and taught many valuable lessons on family and friendship.

Crossing 45 countries without a use of a plane, but only through hitchhiking, sailing and trekking, has allowed Christopher to take in the natural beauty of creation. He experienced and found God through all of that. Experiencing a volcano up close and personal before its eruption was one of his experiences that made him realize that nothing is coincidental. He would mention time and again when he thought it was the end of the road for him and supernaturally a breakthrough would occur.

I would love to mention much more but I would end by saying this. The book has much to offer, especially for a young person who has questions regarding his faith. It will bring the reader to place of deep introspection as the author has had many of those of moments himself.

I recommend you get a copy of this book either for yourself or as a gift.

This book gets a five star rating from me as a brilliantly written autobiography of a young man who is still experiencing life and who even meets his future wife along the way, so yes it is romantic along the way too.

There are 2 quotes that I picked up that show how much the author has changed. Lessons we can learn from also.

"Don't doubt what you can't see - even if you don't feel like it. Now that is true faith! Reading the Bible was starting to change me." (Page 89)

And,

"Life experiences carry much more weight than dried-up theories. These experiences leave a permanent impression on us. I am more sure than ever that everyone can benefit from being abroad for an extended amount of time and discovering something new." (Page 208)

Much Blessings,
