The God Who Pursues

"And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. But the LORD God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you? (Genesis 3 vs 8-9, ESV)

"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (Luke 19 vs 10, ESV)

God did not create us to be mindless robots walking about. He created us for relationship with Him. Adam and Eve experienced this unadulterated, untainted relationship with God. They knew the pureness of the Father as they related to Him every single day. And the fact of the matter is that one day soon we will experience the same. Although sin has separated us from Him, He hasn't allowed us to wallow in it. He provided a way out.

From the very beginning, God provided a way out. The cross of Christ is the way out! Christ just didn't die for our sins, rise again and say that we're forgiven and leave it at that. No not at all! He didn't leave things sitting on the fence. He brought us back to the Father Himself.

"For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation." (Rom. 5 vs 10-11, ESV)

It was a deliberate move on God's part to bring us back to Himself. God pursues us all the time and repentance is the act of showing that we accept to be in this divine relationship.

You know for yourself how God pursued you. Don't you think it's high time that you pursue the Lord. There's absolutely nothing better than that. And here's a little helping hand to get you started. Pray and spend time in the scriptures (I know it may sound cliche but it's a fact of the Christian life). Remember this can't just be a mundane kind of thing that becomes routine and boredom steps in and then somewhere down the line you lose interest and you're back to square one. It starts with desire and a heartfelt passion with much gratitude. Ask the Lord and He will grant you a spirit of passion of wanting to spend time with him.

Don't stop! Continuously cry out to God until He steps in and you know His Presence unlike any other. Reach out to Him as the Scriptures remind us to always 'Ask, Seek and Knock.'

" “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7 Vs 7-11, ESV)

Don't just ask for your blessings, pursue God for who He is and not  of what He can give. There are many fake Christians out there, sad to say. In fact they aren't even Christian at all. They only come to God for what they think He can bless them with. A true Christian comes to God because of God, worships God because He is worthy and not with a carnal attitude. Everything else is secondary. All the blessings I would love to have are secondary. Not that one won't be blessed but they are Blessed because they're in a relationship with God that knows no bounds.

As you step into a new year Pursue God because He has Pursued you!

Many Blessings,

Shane
